A Little on Recreation

The definition of the word "recreation" is "to create anew, restore, refresh; or a refreshment of strength and spirits after work." Those that view it separate from work or an option rather than an integral part of the cycle are missing a great resource for work to be done. By recreating every day we are contributing to the work we need to do every day.

"Cato said the best way to keep good acts in memory was to refresh them with new." - Francis Bacon

"We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast... the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud,and the rain. . ." - Henry David Thoreau

"Such creatures of accident are we, liable to a thousand deaths before we are born. But once we are here, we may create our own world, if we choose." - Mary Antin

"It shows a brave and resolute spirit not to be agitated in exciting circumstances." - Marcus Tullius Cicero

"I do believe it is possible to create, even without ever writing a word or painting a picture, by simply molding one's inner life. And that too is a deed." - Etty Hillesum

"I don't think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday." - Abraham Lincoln

And finally, this one for thought:

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Teach a man to create an artificial shortage of fish and he will eat steak." - Jay Leno
